This topic had been discussed and debated perhaps for over a decade now. Yet, alot still ask the same question. That includes me :-) Years ago when I shopped for my personal carry, I was very confused either I go for revolver like 38 snub or a pistol, like 45 commander. Participated in whole lot of forums, chat with some experts. My! Instead it made me more confused because all of them are very convincing. However at the end of the day, it's me who is going to make the decision.
So I made the most tricky decision of all, and never regretted it. I did go for a 38 snub nose revolver. Actually some folks gave me a strong frown face and some gave a two thumbs up. Now you may ask why a revolver?! You must have a classic taste!! Maybe some may think, I'm already on my late 50's. Hahahah.....actually I am still on my early 30's.
My basis was and even until now are:
1. It is 99.99% reliable. It goes bang! whenever I pull the trigger. This is my top most priority. Very important especially for surprise attack.
2. Easy to operate. Point and shoot!
3. Lesser maintenance. No parts to disassemble, and less moving parts.
4. Smaller size. So i can easily drop in my front pocket (jeans). It is like carry and forget.
5. I can store it for sometime, with live ammo. No need to worry for any mags...etc.
How about the issues like lesser number of rounds, slow to reload? It's for personal defense and not for assault. Diligent practice will overcome the reload issue.
